After the high of making the playoffs in 1984, the Hawks took a step back in 1985, finishing ninth with a 10-16 record. Despite the leadership of coach Ted Weston and captain Gordie McLeod, the team struggled to replicate the success of the previous season. The Hawks would need to regroup and refocus for the coming years.
