The 1992 season marked a significant turnaround for the Hawks, who finished fifth with a 13-11 record and returned to the playoffs after a brief absence.

The addition of future NBA guard Doug Overton and forward Melvin Thomas created one of the club's greatest all-time import combinations.

 

Although the Hawks were swept by North Melbourne in the quarterfinals, the season was a positive step forward, signaling a resurgence for the team.
