The 1997 season was a difficult one for the Hawks, who finished with a league-worst 7-23 record.

The team struggled on both ends of the court, and coach Brendan Joyce faced increasing pressure as the Hawks found themselves at the bottom of the standings.

Despite the disappointing results, Clayton Ritter emerged as the team's MVP, providing a glimmer of hope in an otherwise forgettable season.
